Re: Flips the Switch

Oh hey, you also posted something earlier this week!

I probably should have paid closer attention to further down the page. :P

Moff wrote:I know, and I'm sorry. I'm juggling grading papers, research, getting an introduction together for my Master's thesis, building the map, building the economy... and kinda banging my head on all of them. :(

On the upside, I've got most of the blanks done and the PSDs set up for coloring. Crazed very graciously offered to code a system to allow the use of the map in a better fashion than my original plan. But yeah. Sorry. I might have jumped the gun a bit, but I'm very serious about getting this game going and going right. I want you guys to have a good game. I think of the problems we had in the old VII and VIII, and I'm trying to avoid them.
I really can't blame you, not entirely.

After all, there are supposedly 3 other people in the game right now that are even more absent than you are. :P

I'm waiting for something.

I've already posted three in-character posts, I'd like to see some kind of activity from someone else rather than inadvertently turning it into a one-man show. :P

My pleasure. I'm mostly glad of the fact I was able to open it with a traditional post-opening monologue outer space bit and make it relatively work.

Though now that I think about it, there is a part of me that wishes I'd actually worked in the opening monologue, too. Maybe I should go back and do that. :P

I feel inclined to ask about what this "AstroSynthesis" program is and how the mapping software works vs using a image editing software like Photoshop.

Are we going to get a map of any kind to get a basic sense of what territory is under whose control?

Sahana wrote:I would hope it would be a Magic The Gathering tournament, but alas, I don't have money to keep up with MTG.
I mostly play EDH/Commander myself. That and pre-release and the occasional draft. I find it's a lot easier to keep up with things that way, and I think it's a lot more fun a format to boot.

On the other hand, I also have like somewhere in the range of 7 or 8+ EDH decks, even if none of them are outfitted to be as efficient or 'winning' as possible, so it's probably not quite as much a money saver as it would first sound.

Application for Jinn Nippon

Name: Jinn Horux “Sarge” Nippon
DoB: Approx 16:6 GrS
Species: Human
Faction: Officially Freelance; Unofficially, is allied and works closely with the Alliance of Free Planets
Occupation: ‘Special Ops Commando Mercenary Pirate Commander’ (Or something like that…)
Force Sensitivity: Yes
Description: He looks kind of like this guy:
Image
Summarized Biography: Learned his way through the fields of battle through service in a number of loosely aligned groups that helped aid the Rebel Alliance. Yet even as the Rebel Alliance grew in strength and organization, in time transitioning to the more ‘official’ Alliance of Free Planets, Jinn himself never officially joined the ranks of the Alliance military proper.

Instead, Jinn preferred ‘officially’ working as a freelance operator, allowing him to operate more on his own terms, even as he recognized the drawbacks. Even so, he would work closely with the Alliance when he was able and try to maintain what contact he was able and avoid operations that might run directly counterintuitive to Alliance plans when not working alongside them.

Aside from working for and with the Alliance, Jinn and his team are also known to work mercenary jobs that don’t run counter to his unofficial partnership with the Alliance and what he believes that is supposed to represent. And when busy with neither of those, they make their own work, including various independent military operations against opportune targets belonging to both the Empire and various criminal elements, whether through sabotage, raiding, piracy, or other miscellaneous ‘mischief’ - criminal or otherwise.

While Jinn became fully aware of his Force potential at some point not long after the Battle of Endor, his actual use of his powers are limited to the broad basics. He has little understanding of The Force beyond the surface level or its deeper philosophy. Doesn’t have a lightsaber yet, though this is something he has been trying very hard to fix.

Has also been known to enjoy the occasional fine cigar.

At present, his unnamed team consists of:
*Cyrus “Mac” McKenzy, a one-time TIE pilot who abandoned the Empire after the destruction of Alderaan, though he’s probably a better mechanic and technician anyhow.
*Char “Conman” Sarkoz, a clawdite shapeshifter with a quick wit and mouth and a sometimes shady moral compass.
*Kailin jun Shool AKA “Warhound”, a deadly Kaleesh assassin who doesn’t say much, but holds a strong religious devotion towards – and claims to be descended from – a certain “Qymaen jai Sheelal”.
*R-X ('Rex'), a custom-built floating astromech unit that looks kind of like two R2 unit domes stuck together.

Re: Flips the Switch

Is it viable to post an app and then actually create the account for the character if/when they've been approved, or would it be better to just go ahead and create the character account from the get-go?

Re: Flips the Switch

So with the Ams app now officially posted and approved, does that mean we're open to start applying with our own characters or would it be better to wait until you finish with the intro postings?

And is it just me, or is it just probably the holidays, or is a tad, well, kind of dead around here right at the moment?

Re: Flips the Switch

I feel like I may have cut off Sahana's question, but what is the current status of Jedi and force-users in this timeline? Is that something that's going to be addressed in the prelude posts, is it up in the air, or what's the story there?

Re: The Force Awakens Discussion

For whatever it's worth, the more I think about it the more I'm pretty sure I do actually hate "The Force Awakens", but that doesn't mean I've taken to hating "Star Wars" as a thing, especially not the Lucasverse that it has minimal connection to and doesn't have any effect on.

As a matter of fact, earlier today I actually bought a copy of both "Kenobi" and "Imperial Handbook" (which should go nicely alongside the other two 'in-universe' manuals I already own, "The Jedi Path" and "The Bounty Hunter Code")

The book or the weapon? <_<
I was just thinking of the weapon, to be honest.

Though in that regard, it may be worth considering that I basically grew up with the Star Wars Expanded Universe (and later the Prequel trilogy, for that matter) - Darksaber included - and it's been years since I actually read the thing. So my perspective on it is probably skewed a little. :P

Re: The Force Awakens Discussion

There's a part of me that's starting to think I should see the movie sooner rather than later if only so I can stop worrying about spoilers and actually have a genuine discussion about it. :P
Sahana wrote:So I finally got to see it tonight, unlike some films, once I heard they threw out the Extended universe, my interest in this dropped dramatically.
For whatever it's worth, if I'd been responsible for things, I would have cut some things as well, I just wouldn't have thrown out the entire Expanded Universe. I would have just set a chronological cut-off point of the Alliance/Empire peace at the end of the Hand of of Thrawn duology where everything before is still canon and afterwards is open to work with.

And then I would have set the next movie ahead far enough so that everyone from the original movies could be expected to no longer be around anyway. :P

But yeah, I'll admit, the fact that they tossed out the entire Expanded Universe as we know it was one of the things that helped leave me with a distinct lack of hype and anticipation towards the new movie.

Re: Flips the Switch

So having just read through the entire history page, and presuming you can give an answer without giving away spoilers, is it safe to assume that this RP is going to be taking its primary canon cues from the Lucasverse rather than Disney's canon and the new movie?
