Coruscant
Historic capital of the Galaxy and seat of the Galactic Empire, Coruscant's surface is covered with a planet-wide city.

The Deep Core
The chaotic heart of the Galaxy, populated by supermassive stars and their explosions. The Deep Core is dominated by a supermassive black hole millions of times as massive as a typical habitable series main-sequence dwarf. The astrodynamic chaos wreaks havoc on solar systems and on hyperspace; what few systems of interest in this region can only be reached by very specific routes. This area is firmly under Imperial control. It is also rumored that there are secret Imperial bases amid the supernovae.

The Core Worlds
The center of galactic civilization, the Core Worlds have societies that predate the founding of the Republic. These worlds are rich, densely-populated, and very aware of their standing. Planets in this region are often sharply polarized, either enthusiastically supporting the Empire or fervently backing the Alliance.

The Colonies
Ancient worlds steeped in culture, industry, and wealth, these strategic worlds are hotly contested. Some remain in the Empire, either out of loyalty or by force, others have thrown off their shackles to join the Alliance. Those of sufficient wealth, prestige, and stubbornness have even declared neutrality, either to avoid the ravages of war... or to position themselves as a new power.

The Inner Rim
Once the frontier of galactic civilization, the Inner Rim is a diverse region of wealth and poverty, democracy and dictatorship. Core-ward, it is viewed as a mere suburban extension of the "proper" regions; Rimward, as full of pretentious pretenders who "act more Core than Core."

The Expansion Region
Initially settled as an experiment in corporate-controlled worlds, the Expansion Region suffered mightily as worlds were stripped and species obliterated for the sake of credits, until the Republic brought the megacorps to heel approximately 500 years ago. Under the Empire, there were several attempts to revive the industrial base, with mixed results.

The Mid Rim
Caught between the industrial worlds of the Expansion Region and the wilds of the Outer Rim, the Mid Rim lacks the vast natural resources of its neighbors. The residents of this area are hard-working and fiercely independent.

The Outer Rim
The distant reaches of galactic civilization, the Outer Rim is full of sparsely populated worlds and still ripe for exploration. The Outer Rim also has had a curious propensity to be the site of major turning points in the Galactic Civil War.
